MODERNIZATION OF THE FARMING INDUSTRY THROUGH TECHNOLOGICAL IMPLEMENTATION
The modernization of the farming industry is essential to the survival and growth of the farmers in Nigeria. In order to ensure that production is at its optimal capacity, and quality, innovative technology has to be implemented.
It is within the above premise that we will like to propose the development of economic municipalities like a place of agriculture that we call the Jewel of Africa. Our intention is to explore how we can work together with this government to achieve the vision of feeding a starving population and a creation of an economically nation with a pilot scheme to kick start the program in the six geo-political zones
CREATION OF JOBS FOR THE YOUTH AND LESS PRIVILEGED
The estimated population of Nigeria is said to have reached about 167 million people according to the National Bureau of Statistics in 2012. Furthermore the National Population Commission states that about half of the population consists of the youths defined as individuals between the ages of 15 and 34 years. As the youth population grows so does the unemployment rate. Firstly, in regards to age, younger youths struggle more to find jobs, at least two-thirds of unemployed youths are between the ages of 15 and 24 years, which is a staggering statistic if you take into account that the upper quartile of the age range consists of those that are expected to be graduates. Secondly, regarding gender the majority of unemployed are female. Thirdly, regarding geographical location, youth unemployment is mostly in rural areas. Establishing farm settlements in rural areas will provide jobs for the underprivileged as well as the graduates who have been unable to attain employment.
